My hometown is a half hour south of the Texas border so it looks more like the American southwest than a great vacation destination. The land is semi arid. When I was a child, I spent my summers there. It was common for us to lose electric power. Also, water was rationed because it was needed for farming. We used to burn our garbage, that became illegal in the ’90’s.
